Not just jewellery!

I have just finished two commissions and am just waiting for another one for which the fabrics still have to be chosen!

Scottish? Scotland soon!

As we will break up our tents in France soon to spend some time in Scotland, I felt I had to make a bag reminding me of that part of our life and came up with a black and white tartan woollen fabric, combined with red faux suede. I still wanted to stick to the fold-over bag pattern, but one that can be carried as a rucksack as well.

I am not sure if this will be as popular in Scotland as it is in France/Switzerland but I thought I might give it a try at the Presents Galore, Kelso, on October 5 and 6. The bag will be for sale in my ETSY Shop for € 59.95.

As with the other fold-over bags, it has a large front zippered pocket and two slip pockets at the back. It can be carried as a normal shoulder bag but the straps can be adjusted to it nicely on your shoulders by using the strap adjusters. This bag will be especially useful for those of you who go to work on a bike or for a while and still wanting to look glamorous.

I have deliberately not put any internal pockets in the body of the bag because I think that sometimes they are more a hindrance than an asset if you want to put larger items inside. You can put all your valuable items in the zippered pocket at the front and the slip pockets at the back are large enough for  mobile and (sun)glasses case. However, as I am always looking for the keys in my bag, I have added a clip for a keyring. The main body of the bag is also large enough to hold your laptop

Te bag is difficult for pick-pockets to get their hands in because of the zippered pocket and the fold-over part which covers this pocket and the whole is kept down by the straps!

And there it is. The bag looks larger on the dummy. The actual size is: wide 33 cm, high when open 45 cm, high when folded close 33 cm, deep 6 cm):

Four metal feet

Light coloured lining which makes it easier to see what is inside the bag.

Carried as a rucksack. It is easy to see that nobody can get its hand into this bag when carried on the back!

Brown and orange - warm autumn

It is still incredibly hot and I am trying to keep cool in a darkened living room. I finished the sewing this morning and do not want to start something new in this heat but I have made all the photos for this commission which was made of chocolate brown faux suede and red/orange/pink hand woven wool. So here goes:

Under the fold is a large zippered pocket. The bag itself closes with a magnet.

Back with two large slip pockets for mobile phone and glasses.

Front and side. There is a long adjustable strap.

One of the things on the brief: should be large enough for a bag insert. And it is!

Updated: foldover to rucksack

Upon popular request, I have updated my fold over bag so that it can now also be used as a rucksack. The bag is made of vegan leather and handwoven pure wool:

Front looks like the normal fold-over bag

Back of the bag also looks like the normal fold-over bag. There are two large slip pockets at the back. The only difference to see are the buckets through which the straps are running. The strap adjusters are also at the back of the bag.

Black and grey - favourites for A/W 2016?

The third black and grey bag was sold yesterday before it was completely finished and I had to finish today - very elegant and very spacious. Can be used during the day to look glamorous and is still elegant enough to go out to dinner. It is made of black faux suede and silver grey denim.

Sneak peek of the coming winter collection

I finished the first two bags for the coming winter collection but after showing these to some friends yesterday I only have one left! The bag on the left was sold as soon as I showed it! I was lucky to have these two pictures made before I showed them off.

Both bags are made of heavy upholstery fabric combined with a strip of handwoven wool.
They are very spacious, fold-over to the fron, close at the top with a magnets and have a large zippered pocket under the fold.
The two straps are adjustable.

At the back there are two slip pockets on the lefthand bag and one large slip pocket on the bag on the right.
Inside the bag there are either two or three slip pockets and there is a clip to hang the keyring on.

Keep cool this hot summer

We are still struggling with very hot summer days. The heat wave is not yet over and it does not look as if it will finish soon.

Therefore, the blue colours of this bag make you feel cool by just looking at it. But, it can also be used in the cold winter as it is completely made of handwoven wool.

Black and tweed fold-over

The commissions seem to be coming in all the time. This time it was a request for a fold-over, vertical and diagonally striped bag in black faux suede and tweed. It took quite a lot of time working out how wide the diagonal stripes should be, but it worked out fine in the end and the bag looks very elegant.
