I have not written anything for quite a while and I will not write much today but here is just a quick picture of the Christmas fair in Waterville. Had a great day there!

Morimont - Le Labo M

Enjoyed last weekend at Morimont which was not just a craft fair but we also had to show our craft. So I showed how to make paper beads. It was really interesting and lots of people wanted to know how they were made and had never heard of it. Interesting as well was, that in many cases it were the men that asked me how it was done!

Easter Fair in Basel

We had a lovely time yesterday afternoon!

Paper beads and silver plate

For the Easter Fair in the Lohnhof in Basel on March 25th, I have made a selection of paper bead necklaces. Normally I use 925 Sterling silver, but so as to have some cheaper items for sale as well, I have made a selection with silver plate. They turned out pretty well and if I can sell some of these I will make some more for the Mother's Day fair, which we will have in Basel on May 6th (Mother's Day there is always the second Sunday in May!).

I love making these beads. Once I have cut the paper and selected the colours I want, I can roll them while watching TV in the evening. After making the beads they get varnished twice to make them water resistant. And of course afterwards comes the most rewarding part - sorting out the colours that go together to make them into a necklace. Obviously no bead is the same, which makes them so interesting!

Fait Main, Morimont

We had a glorious weekend. Fait Main was organised at Morimont by Joanna and A Little Market. And it was very well organised too, including the weather! The venue was supposed to go on until 6 PM and just before 6 PM a few drops of rain started to fall like a reminder of 'its time to start packing up'!

I did not do too badly and it was great fun. I shared the stall with Titi and her husband Antti of Titis Style, and the stall next to ours was Cathra's of Gorgeous goodies and unique upholstery. We were the english speaking corner in an otherwise very French fair, although Titi and her husband are Finnish. It's very funny when you start talking to people and when they find out you are not from the Alsace they ask 'and you come all the way from Holland or Finland?' and you answer that you are living in the Alsace, as a matter of fact, just around the corner.

It is interesting to meet new people, especially also when they come from your own country!

The day ended with a real surprise. After Alan and I packed the cars we realised we could not get out so we decided to have a drink in the restaurant. While having our drinks we were joined by the proprietress and two friends of hers, started some interesting conversations and in the end we were invited to join their evening meal! It was a lovely end to a glorious weekend!

Fait Main, Morimont, France

We had a great weekend at Fait Main at Morimont  in Oberlarg. It was very hot on the Saturday and there were not many visitors. The weather on Sunday was better - lower temperatures but still a beautiful day. All in all there were not very many visitors on either day, which was a real shame. Apparently there were all sorts of other venues in the area, like flea markets, etc., which may have been the reason but we still enjoyed being there. I sold quite a number of bags but some of the other exhibitors hardly sold anything.  All stall holders were amateur crafts people and it was interesting talking to them.

The old barn, where the fair was held, is a great old building and I know that the floor below has beautiful vaulted spaces, where cattle used to be housed in times gone by. The surrounding area is great for hiking, with beautiful rolling hills. It is amazing that this part of the Alsace is not overrun by tourists, which is probably a good thing as it has still kept an authentic flair. The villages are still woking farming villages. I love this area!

Pale blue and UK Handmade

I have been working hard to get my bags ready for the fair in Fait Main at Morimont, Oberlarg and have finished the last bag to take with me.

It turned out beautiful, the colour reminding me of summer and water. The top half and lining are in linen and the bottom part is made of handwoven wool as is the flap over the large front pocket which is internally divided into two to hold smart phone and (sun)glasses.
