Blue waxed on blue moon

My first waxed commission bucket bag. A combination of linen and cotton. I used the same fabric for the lining and for the outside so I therefore decided that piping was necessary and in a way it makes sewing the inside to the outside so much easier because you just have to sew on top of the previous sewing.

Wax, flowers and hot pink

Another waxed bag for my ETSY shop. The bottom part is linen and the top part, which runs all the way down is a very sturdy cotton. The pockets are also waxed inside.

The back of this bag has two large slip pockets

The front has one large slip pocket that closes with two magnets

The inside has three large slip pockets and the bag closes with a zip

As always, there are four feet

Third and last, at least for the time being, waxed bucket bag

And this is the third of this kind of waxed bucket bag. More or less the same as the other two, just in different fabrics and colours but just as nice.

Front - beautiful strong cotton and linen

Back, same as the front

Bottom with 4 feet

Top with zip

Three inside slip pockets of which one closes with velcro tape.
I have used the cut-offs of the zip again to embellish the slip pockets. The lining is the same linen as the bottom part of the outside and the handles

And here are all three bags!

Second, hand-waxed bucket bag

Here is my second, hand waxed bucket bag. Same pattern as the previous waxed bag, just the bottom part is higher. It is made of charcoal coloured denim and blue cotton toile de joy:

Waxed bags

Most of the waxed bags I found on the internet are beige, brown, etc. and you do not see many made of a colourful fabric. So, I decided to do a series of three waxed bag of which the first one is finished. I used a very striking linen with giant flowers for the top and a tighter woven linen  for the bottom part, straps, zip closure and lining.

I waxed the complete outside, straps zip closure and top part of the lining which stays visible at the top, in fact, all parts that could catch rain or are liable to get quickly dirty.

I did not want to add any pockets on the outside because that would detract from the design of the fabric.

Inside I added two slip pockets.  One slip pocket I closed with velcro tape so that valuables can safely be stored away.

Waxed bag - finished

And here is the finished product:

Front, fabric is linen and cotton

Lining is also made of cotton

The bag is large enough for a weekend away, sport, diaper bag, etc.

Except for the gladstone closure, there is also a snap button

Of course there are four feet

The white bits you see on the picture are patches of sunshine!
