Golf bag

Today I finished Pauline's third commission this spring.

Her brief was as follows: colourful, small, one front pocket for her mobile with easy access, one zippered pocket for her money and on the inside enough space for tissues etc. and a water bottle with something to keep it upright. She wants to take it to the golf course so that she can still have everything she needs with her.

We choose the fabrics together and the main fabric is a pair of my upcycled trousers and is a beautiful 100% linen turquoise colour. The lining is 100% cotton and the contrast colour is bright orange. The mobile pocket closes with a velcro dot for quick access.

It turned out to be a beautiful small bag!

Recycling

Finished Pauline's bag today. The red fabric came from one of her old coats which she asked me to combine with two colours of grey and make into a bag. She wanted the same pattern as her previous bag.

On one of the side pockets I have sewn a button, which also came from her coat. There is no button on the other side, so that she knows that the pocket with the button contains her mobile! The yarn for the tassel, which is attached to the zipper, also came from her coat.

Pauline's commission - finished

I finished Pauline's commission last night.

This model seems to be extremely popular as this is the 5th commission of this particular model, of course, all customised to the customer's specific needs. This one has a large front slip pocket and large zippered pocket at the back, both large enough to contain an iPad. Inside there is one large slip pocket, large enough to hold an A4 writing pad, as well as an elastic band to hold back a 0.5 liter water bottle. Outside there are pockets on each side to hold a mobile and/or glasses case. The lining is a sturdy linen fabric.

I think the shape of this bag is popular because it is light, large, can be used for work but is still stylish and not too businesslike but at the same time large enough to hold all you need. Also, privately, it is a great everyday bag and is also very useful for flying because it will hold everything you want to take with you in the cabin, weather you fly budget airlines or intercontinental. As it is made of fabric it is much lighter than leather, is sprayed outside and inside with a water repellant spray and is therefore easily spot cleaned.

Pauline's commission II

Because of the brilliant sunshine today, I have not been able to spend a lot of time on the sewing machine. I had to spend time outside and it felt great, so I cleaned the terrases as well as some of the garden furniture. It is not all done yet, but it is still going to be great weather tomorrow so I will finish it then.

However, I have made some progress on Pauline's bag. All parts for the outside have already been cut, covered with interfacing and fleece where necessary and most parts have already been sewn. Just the zipper to be done and then put all the parts together. This will, hopefully, be done tomorrow and with a bit of luck I will be able to also do the lining for which I have chosen a natural coloured linen which I have also used for the inside of the front pocket as well as the zippered back pocket.
