Pink and purple - necklace and earrings

After painting all those stones, I got, at last, some time to finish the paper beads I made a while ago and here are some pics of the necklace and ear rings:

Celtic doodling and paper beads and a new begin!

We have more or less settled in again in this tiny cottage in Ireland and after a lot of sorting, cleaning, etc., I have at last been able to start doing my things again. Not as much as I would have liked to, however, because I have planned to start at a new venture: resin casting! I have not done this before but have read up a lot about it while we were still in France and Scotland where I could not do much because everything was either waiting for being packed into the car, or packed already!

So, I have started making some more paper beads which I will cover with resin before I start the casting.

I will make some more today and varnish them tomorrow together with a river stone that I painted with what I would like to call 'melting doodling'. 

I love this doodling. I can do this while watching TV in the evening. I just cannot sit in front of the TV and do nothing with my hands, so it's either doodling or playing  sudoku on my iPad!

Paper bead sets - commission

I have finished one complete set (necklace, bracelet en ear rings). I have also finished one necklace and all the beads but have now run out of eyelets, which I ordered a few weeks ago but am still waiting for them.  As soon as I receive them I can finish the rest of this commission!

I still love the colours I can create by using old magazines to make paper beads. I have finished another two necklaces. The fasteners I have used here are small magnets so it is very easy to open and close! They are now for sale in my ETSY shop.

The next project will be earrings!

Paper beads, paper beads

I am really into paper beads now:

Blue is the dominant colour and the paperboards are interspaced by white-
 and two different colours of blue freshwater pearls. The large
925 sterling silver bead has the figure of a sitting woman on the
other side. The fastener is also 925 sterling silver with a large white
 freshwater pearl

The dominant colour of the paper beads of this necklace is
pink and I have combined them with white and pink freshwater
 beads, a large tribal silver bead and here as well,
 the fastener is 925 sterling silver with a large freshwater pearl.

Paper beads

After starting to clear the house of a lot of unwanted stuff, including books that not even a charity shop will take, I decided to read up further on paper beads.

I started cutting up the book with the most colourful pictures and started rolling. Apparently I did not do my research well enough and it took me a while and some further research and looking at videos, to find out that you do NOT have to start with one piece of paper and try to connect the next one onto it to get the bead to the thickness you want. You can start with as many pieces of paper as you want! It also took a few tries  to find out which size of beads I wanted but I think I got the hang of it now.

I love the discs but have up to now only done one and this one turned out pretty well. I did not like the colours of the beads I made from the colourful picture pages. They were all too dark, so I painted them pink(ish). For the mint and pale blue beads I used coloured paper that I bought years ago and use to make my bag patterns with by sticking them together.

I started varnishing them with clear nail polish but that did not turn out very satisfactory. It took too long and the brush was just to short.

After raiding the cellar, when Alan was working in the garden, I found some parquet floor high gloss varnish and the stuff to clean your brushes with and varnished the stock I made.
